The sales department is often the first contact and business card to customers. Especially at service-oriented companies like Minerva. How does Minerva's sales department work and what makes the work fun and valuable? A nice conversation about this with Anita Koelewijn, Sales Team Leader and Anton Melissen, sales engineer.

What do you do here in Minerva's sales department?

Anita KoelewijnAnita: "Our main task is to draw up quotations in response to a request from a customer or prospect. We talk to them and make an inventory of what they are looking for in order to make a suitable offer. This allows us to determine what kind of service is needed and what type of calibration is appropriate, for example pressure, temperature, flow or electrical.

We are often in contact with our own lab or with an external lab partner for the details and planning for performing a calibration. In this way our customers and prospects know what to expect of the Minerva calibration service on forehand, which is highly appreciated"

How do you receive quote requests?

Anton: "We receive requests for quotations via a phone call, an email or the Minerva portal. We notice that the weekly reminders for the recalibration of customer equipment are getting more and more response. In the last year, we have also received more and more new serious requests via the website, also from companies outside Europe".

How do you like working at Minerva?

Anita: "I'm really enjoying it. There is a very positive atmosphere within Minerva. There is little employee turnover, many colleagues have been working there for a long time. For example, I have been working at Minerva since 2014. The Laboratory, Logistics, Customer Service and Sales departments work well together with clear communication, openness and short lines of communication. It’s pleasant for us to be able to work like this in the Sales department.”

Anton: "It is also nice to see that Minerva has a good name in the market. We noticed this, for example, when we spoke to a number of resellers at a meeting with Fluke who were in awe when we told them we worked at Minerva. That was special to experience".

Contagious enthusiasm

How do you work as a sales department?

Anita: "We are all-rounders, flexible and focused on problem-solving. There is an informal work atmosphere with short lines of communication. "Service oriented" and "Integrity" are the core values of Minerva that fit well with us”.

What do you like most about your work in the sales department?

Anton: "The contact with customers and the diversity in the workload. I like special customer requests; I like to figure things out and come up with a solution for our customers".

Anita: "Anton almost always stays calm and is super service-oriented. He excels at turning a complaint into a compliment".

And Anton, what do you think are Anita's strengths?

"Anita has a contagious enthusiasm on the phone. She is strong in bringing messages to relations in a positive and constructive way".

Anita: “We have a close-knit team with a good atmosphere, we are open and honest. We are collegial and work well together towards a clear, common goal: a satisfied customer".
